What’s the Open Day About?
Thinking about a career in automotive? This Open Day gives students the chance to step inside a real training workshop environment and discover where a career in automotive could take them.
You’ll get to:
- Discover career pathways – both school-based and after school
- Experience hands-on demonstrations
- Learn about future technologies including EVs and diagnostics
- See the latest vehicles and technology
- Meet tradspeople, trainers, and apprentices
It’s a fun, interactive way to see if automotive is right for you!
Event Program
Morning Program
- 10:00am – Formalities commence & WA State Kick-Off for National Skills Week
- 10:30am – 11:00am – Keynote Address by the Minister
- 11:00am – 11:30am – Panel Discussion: Exploring the National Skills Week theme: “Life Changing.”
- 11:30am – 12:00pm – Open Day Official Opening
Mid-Day & Afternoon Activities
- 12:00pm onwards – Food trucks on-site. Lunch available for purchase.
- Explore sponsor marquees
- Watch WorldSkills Auto Electrical competition live in Workshop 251
- View live training demonstrations in Workshop 253
- 12:30pm – 3:30pm – Guided Open Day Walk Arounds & Demonstrations led by MTA WA trainers:
- Hands-on demonstrations
- Behind-the-scenes training tours
- Watch Auto Electrical apprentices compete in the Regional WorldSkills Competition
